Session

The information below is a brief summary of what you can expect when you book a session with us. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

The Session

A session can last from 2-3 hours, and will typically yield between  30-50 proofs.  Please allow enough time in your schedule for the length of your session.  This will allow ample time for the breaks that children and babies often need during the session to rest, relax or re-charge with a snack.  Making room for these breaks helps ensure a relaxed and stress-free session for both the child (and parent). 

The session can take place at your home, or an alternate indoor or outdoor location of your choosing.   Studio backdrops may be used for sessions held in your home.

Please consider the time of day when scheduling your child(ren)'s photo session.  Your session should take place at a time when your child is happiest and well-rested.  Children photograph the best when they are relaxed and they do not feel the pressure to "perform".  We encourage your children to be themselves during the session, and never try to force them into poses they don't want to do. The main goal is keeping your child happy during the session, allowing their true self to shine through in the photographs. 

What to Wear

This is by far our most frequently asked question.  When selecting clothing for your session, please keep it simple !!  Simple clothing often photographs the best.  Solid colors always work well - and denim and khaki paired with a solid colored top make great choices for any age group.

Above all, please avoid busy patterns, (stripes, checks, plaids and bold prints) and clothing with writing and logos on them.  If you are unsure of your clothing selection, you can bring or prepare several outfits from which we can choose at the time of the session. 

If you would like to include a trendy look in your session, you are welcome to do so.  However, it is strongly recommended to include a "classic" outfit as well to balance the look of the photographs.  Trendy looks have the possibility of becoming "dated" in a short period of time, while the classic will rarely go out of style. 

What about shoes ?   Bare feet are recommended for children of all ages!  But if you must wear shoes, please wear something that will coordinate with the rest of your outfit, even if you do not want or expect to have any full-body photos taken.   

Newborns and young babies look best in bare skin.  If you would like for your baby to wear clothing in some of the photos, choose clothing that is comfortable and simple.  This will allow the focus to remain on the child, and not the clothing.  Stay away from clothing that will not lie flat (i.e. collars), especially with babies that cannot sit up on their own.

Newborn sessions : If you will be photographed with your baby, please wear a long sleeved black top (not V-neck) and black pants.  And please bring a second outfit that will coordinate with your baby's clothing if the baby will be dressed as well.  It is highly recommended to bring an extra change of clothing to newborn sessions due to unexpected "accidents". 

For families and groups, we recommend having everyone dress in similar styles and colors.  The outfits do not have to match !  They simply need to co-ordinate with each other and not contain colors/patterns that will ultimately clash with each other.  While you would never go out dressed in similar clothing, this look works exceptionally well when photographing families and groups of people in a close setting.  The goal is to keep any one person from standing out from the rest of the portrait.

The Proofs

Proofs will be available for viewing in a password-protected online gallery within 14 days of the completed session.  An ordering appointment must be scheduled in order to view the printed proofs and place the order.  Upon completion of the ordering appointment, the proofs will be published to a password protected online gallery to be shared with friends and family.  The online gallery will remain active for 14 days at no charge. 

All proofs are custom edited and enhanced and include minor retouching.  Retouching is applied at the photographer's discretion.  If you would like additional retouching applied to your photos, please discuss your request with the photographer.

You can also purchase a high-resolution CD with all the images from your session.  The CD includes editing and enhancement of the photographs.  You will also receive a license allowing limited re-printing rights to the images.

Orders are due when the gallery expires.  Print orders require payment in full at the time the order is placed.  Prints will be delivered in 1-2 weeks.  Please inquire about delivery times for specialty items.
